Refund and Cancellation Policy
REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY - Version 1.1
Effective Date: June 24, 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy governs purchases of services offered by KiND Institute Inc. | Institut KiND Inc. ("KiND Institute", "we", "our", or "us"), including services purchased through our website, consultations, manuscript review, proofreading, copy-editing, formatting, workshops, training programs, subscriptions, plans, packages, bundles, and related offerings. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Professional Services Policy, Privacy Policy, and any service-specific terms published on our website.
By purchasing, booking, registering for, subscribing to, submitting materials for, or otherwise using KiND Institute Services, clients confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to this Policy.
1. Services Covered
This Policy applies to paid Services offered by the KiND Institute, including:
-
Writing, manuscript feedback, and research design feedback services;
-
Proofreading, copy-editing, and formatting services;
-
Consultations, consultation packages, and professional development services;
-
Educational workshops, training programs, and events;
-
Subscriptions, pricing plans, service packages, and service bundles; and
-
Digital services and other paid Services offered through our website.
Unless stated otherwise, all paid Services are governed by this Policy. Some provisions may also apply to complimentary services, pilot programs, promotional offerings, free workshops, and free events where applicable.
2. Complimentary Services
The KiND Institute may offer complimentary consultations, pilot programs, educational resources, promotional services, free workshops, free events, or other no-cost offerings.
Because no payment is collected for these Services at the time they are provided, refund provisions generally do not apply. If cancellation, no-show, or similar fees are introduced for complimentary Services, the applicable fees and terms will be disclosed at booking and governed by the policies then in effect.
The KiND Institute may modify, suspend, reschedule, discontinue, or cancel complimentary Services at any time without liability.
3. Customized Professional Services
The KiND Institute provides customized professional Services that may require scheduling, preparation, analysis, review, editing, formatting, consultation, project administration, and other client-specific work. Because professional time and resources may be reserved shortly after purchase or booking, refund eligibility may be limited once substantive work has begun.
4. Substantive Work
For this Policy, substantive work may include:
-
Assigning a consultant, editor, reviewer, formatter, trainer, or other professional;
-
Reviewing submitted materials;
-
Preparing for a consultation, workshop, training session, or project;
-
Completing administrative preparation specific to a client project;
-
Editing, formatting, reviewing, commenting, or analyzing materials;
-
Developing reports, recommendations, or other work products; or
-
Delivering draft, partial, or final work products.
The KiND Institute will determine reasonably and in light of the circumstances whether substantive work has begun.

5. Cancellation Requests Before Substantive Work Begins
Clients may request cancellation before substantive work has begun. Requests must be submitted in writing to info@kindinstitute.net and should include:
-
Client name;
-
Email address used for purchase;
-
Invoice or order number; and
-
Reason for the request.
If substantive work has not begun, the KiND Institute may approve a refund, less any reasonable deductions for payment processing, currency conversion, administrative preparation, scheduling costs, communications, project setup, or work already performed before the cancellation request. The KiND Institute does not currently impose a separate cancellation penalty.
6. Services After Substantive Work Has Begun
Once substantive work has begun, refunds are generally not available. Completed work and work in progress are ordinarily non-refundable because professional time, expertise, scheduling capacity, and resources have already been committed.
7. Manuscript Review, Editing, and Formatting Services
For manuscript review, writing feedback, proofreading, copy-editing, formatting, and related editorial services:
-
Refunds are generally unavailable once substantive work has begun;
-
These Services involve professional judgment, analysis, recommendations, editorial review, and customized work products that cannot be returned once delivered;
-
Disagreement with editorial comments, recommendations, stylistic decisions, or professional opinions is not grounds for a refund; and
-
The quality, factual accuracy, completeness, originality, and publication readiness of submitted content remain the client’s responsibility.
Publication outcomes remain outside the control of the KiND Institute.

8. Consultation Services
Clients may request cancellation or rescheduling of consultations. If consultation preparation has not begun, refunds may be available subject to applicable deductions. If preparation has begun or the consultation has been delivered, refunds are generally unavailable. Rescheduling requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
9. Missed Appointments and No-Shows
If a client misses a scheduled consultation, workshop session, training session, or appointment without reasonable notice:
-
The appointment may be considered delivered;
-
Associated service credits may be forfeited; and
-
Refunds will generally not be available.
The KiND Institute may permit rescheduling but is not required to do so. Repeated no-shows may result in suspension of future booking privileges.

10. Subscription Plans, Packages, and Bundles
Clients may cancel subscriptions, plans, packages, or bundles at any time unless otherwise specified in writing. Approved refunds, if any, will reflect unused Services after applicable deductions for:
-
Services already delivered;
-
Work already performed; and
-
Transaction, payment processing, currency conversion, scheduling, and administrative costs reasonably incurred.
Unused Services may expire according to the applicable plan or package terms. Services, subscriptions, credits, plans, bundles, and packages are non-transferable unless the KiND Institute expressly approves otherwise.

11. Renewal Cancellations
Where Services renew automatically, cancellation requests should be submitted at least forty-eight (48) hours before the next scheduled renewal date. Requests received after renewal processing may take effect in the following billing cycle, and clients remain responsible for charges incurred before cancellation becomes effective.
12. Workshops, Training Programs, and Events
Workshop, training, and event registrations may be cancelled according to any event-specific cancellation terms published at registration. Where no event-specific terms apply:
-
Refund requests received more than fourteen (14) days before the event may be reviewed; and
-
Refund requests received within fourteen (14) days of the event may be denied due to scheduling, preparation, and resource commitments.
The KiND Institute may offer rescheduling, credits, substitutions, or alternative remedies where appropriate.
13. Express, Priority, and Rush Services
Express, priority, rush, expedited, or accelerated Services require immediate reservation of professional capacity and resources. Expedited service fees are generally non-refundable once scheduling or preparation has begun, and refund eligibility may be more limited than for standard Services.
14. Refund Review Process
Refund requests are reviewed individually. Factors may include whether substantive work has begun, how much work has been completed, what deliverables have been provided, what costs have been incurred, the communication history, and any project-specific circumstances.
Submitting a refund request does not guarantee approval. The KiND Institute will make reasonable efforts to review requests within ten (10) business days.
15. Method of Refund
Approved refunds will ordinarily be issued to the original payment method whenever reasonably possible. Processing times may vary depending on payment processors, financial institutions, credit card providers, or other third parties.
The KiND Institute is not responsible for delays caused by third-party financial institutions, payment processors, or payment providers.
16. No Guarantee of Outcomes
The KiND Institute does not guarantee publication, journal or publisher acceptance, grant or funding approval, academic approval, employment opportunities, professional advancement, peer-review outcomes, or any specific academic, professional, institutional, commercial, or other result. Refunds will not be granted solely because desired outcomes are not achieved.
17. Inability to Complete Services
If the KiND Institute is unable to complete a Service due to circumstances within our reasonable control, we may, acting reasonably:
-
Complete the Service at a later date;
-
Provide a partial refund;
-
Provide a full refund;
-
Offer service credits; or
-
Offer a substitute Service.
Any remedy will reflect the circumstances and work already completed.

18. Client Delays and Abandoned Projects
Service timelines depend on clients providing complete and timely information, materials, responses, and approvals. The KiND Institute is not responsible for delays caused by missing information, incomplete submissions, delayed responses, or failure to provide required materials or approvals.
Projects may be considered abandoned if required materials, information, approvals, or communications have not been received for sixty (60) consecutive days. Unused Services, balances, credits, and reserved project capacity associated with abandoned projects may expire unless otherwise required by law. Reasonable efforts may be made to contact clients before a project is considered abandoned.
19. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Clients agree to contact the KiND Institute before initiating a chargeback, payment dispute, or similar claim. The KiND Institute may provide contracts, policies, invoices, communications, booking records, project records, timestamps, deliverables, acceptance records, evidence of work performed, electronic acceptance records, policy acknowledgements, clickwrap records, consultation records, project logs, and system records in response to payment disputes, chargebacks, investigations, or legal proceedings.
20. Refusal of Service
The KiND Institute may refuse, suspend, restrict, discontinue, or terminate Services where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect confidentiality or intellectual property rights, address ethical or academic integrity concerns, prevent fraud or abuse, protect security or personnel, or protect legitimate business interests.
Refund determinations following refusal of Service will be made in accordance with this Policy.
21. Force Majeure
The KiND Institute is not liable for delays, interruptions, or inability to perform Services caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Delivery schedules and timelines may be adjusted accordingly.
22. International Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Policy excludes, restricts, waives, or limits rights that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, waived, or limited under applicable consumer protection laws or other mandatory legal requirements. Where mandatory rights apply, those rights prevail.
23. Governing Law
This Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Subject to applicable consumer protection laws and mandatory legal requirements, disputes relating to this Policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec and/or Canada.
24. Severability
If any provision of this Policy is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
25. Changes to This Policy
The KiND Institute may revise this Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be published on the website and become effective upon publication unless otherwise specified. The version in effect when Services are purchased will generally govern that transaction unless otherwise required by law.
