Prof. Jo Crotty

Professor of Management and Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange, Edge Hill University

The author of more than 70 journal articles, Prof. Crotty has a range of research interests that examine the intersections between state, business and society via the third sector and non-profits. She has focused her work predominantly in former Soviet Union countries; emerging democracies that are best examined through qualitative techniques. As a result, she employs semi-structured interview and case study techniques to reveal the nuance and impact of cultural context and antecedents. She was elected to the organising committee of the Public and Non-Profit Division of the Academy of Management in 2023 and sits on the editorial board of Voluntary Sector Review. Previously Dean of Faculty at Aberystwyth University, Wales, she is now Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange at Edge Hill University in the UK.
